Amazon: Pay International Authors via Amazon Payments/PayPal/bank account

Just a petition that I thought was important to share.

As you know, independent authors put a lot of time and energy into our writing and we are so thankful for the opportunity Amazon provides for us to earn a living doing what we love.
Except a lot of that living is stripped from us through bank charges for processing international cheques.

I was excited to receive my first two cheques recently, smallfry compared to some authors, one was for $17, the other for $56.
Except my bank charges $25 to bank a single cheque.
For my $17 cheque, I will be paying THEM to bank it for me. If I choose not to cash in my royalties on that $17 cheque, it makes it nothing but a pretty piece of paper. A piece of paper that represents about 51 readers.

Of my $73 in royalties, $50 would go toward bank fees, leaving me with $23US (not that I can actually deposit the $17 cheque at all). BEFORE currency conversion to Australian dollars.

I am just one example.

Other banks charge $40 to process international cheques.

I have heard of another author whose country of residence will not process US cheques so they have to GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY to deposit royalties.

Smashwords pays authors via PayPal so it can't be too hard for Amazon to do so, or update Amazon Payments so that international users can be paid that way as well.

It would also save you money on international postage of cheques. Win-win, right?

I know and believe that Amazon cares about its authors and this step would help us all across the globe.

Book Review: Commitment (Predatory Ethics) by Athanasios

Adam, the teenage Antichrist/AntiXos, wants none of this. He watches his TV shows in one of Danvers Mental Hospital's nice padded rooms, snugly dressed in his own long sleeved, buckled, canvas jacket. He feels safe here away from a hostile, ravaging outside world.

He's horribly wrong.

Overall Feedback: Before you read the previous review please read mine. I state this first because the previous was an obvious fake/false review of a book. You can not possibly miss the fact that this is the second in the series and if you (like me) had read the first then you know that this author is going to entertain you in the least. Now on to the scheduled review. Moving from Mad Gods to Commitment was smooth and hassle free. The author continues his story without missing a beat. Yes this is a story that we have seen, yes he does not deviate from a typical storyline but he does entangle the reader with a well written book. You will not regret taking a stroll through the mind on Athanasios once again.

Point of View: Here the author excels in bringing the reader into the mind of his main character "Adam:.

Voice: Typical but with only the spin Athanasios can place on it.

Character Development: Straightforward for the most part with small detours on Adam and his struggles. Ties really well together.

Plot: Again this is your straightforward good versus evil but I would not go to the levels of saying pass this up for something else. Athanasios adds his take on this story and I believe makes it better.

Dialogue: Athanasios has obviously worked on making sure his dialogue fits and enhances his story. I say you hit the mark, well done sir.

Pacing: From start to finish in one day.

Setting: How many times have we thought or suspected this is going on. We all know evil is battling good everyday.

Continuity: From start to finish I could not see one spot that would have pulled me out of the story and I believe you will see the same.

So I say to all the momma's boys do not be ashamed, hold your head up high for we have moms that loved us enough we can not help but give back to them and share it with others. To our significant others, you may get tired of the momma's boy issues but remember she taught us how to treat you.

Book Review: I Zombie I by Jack Wallen

Overall Feedback: I have had tow authors (Shea MacLeod and Danielle Blanchard) suggest that I read this book. I know both of them from the IWU Facebook Group and I trust they know a good book when they read it, so I gave it a chance. I am so very happy that I did. Jack is a brilliant writer and he can make your head spin with his storytelling wiles. Jack tells us his take on Zombies without the feeling like we are being slammed by yet another Zombie book or movie.

Point of View: In a unique twist you get to read the story through the eyes of a man while he changes and fights those he is becoming like.

Voice: Zombies are people too.

Character Development: Jack is able to take the reader through the full gambit of emotions for his main character. Spot on development.

Plot: We all know that the Zombie Apocalypse is coming so why not study up.

Dialogue: With the narrating from Jacob you have to wonder how Jack was able to know" what a zombie thinks. Besides "Brians"

Pacing: Count this review in with the rest of the one sitting reads.

Setting: Jack is able to convey a setting without going into intricate detail. In other words he gives just enough to the reader to know what colors to use but allows the reader to paint the portrait.

Continuity: A perfect start to what looks to be a perfect series.

Seeing as how this is more an interactive story for an Android Device or Apple Device my review will have to be given in a different format. First of all this is a Free story on both Apple and Android devices and is also available for viewing online. I thought the author did very well with the story line and gave some interesting choices to make throughout the story. I was disappointed that there are still needs in development but it shows that this will be an ever growing narrative. This is def something that the enthusiastic Zombie Apocalypse Reader can get into.

Anthropology is a long term interest of mine. One thing I found interesting: In the book, certain peoples have been designated by the government as sub-human. Since they were discovered, Neanderthals too, were usually considered a less evolved species. In the past year, genetics research has shown that most of us carry Neanderthal genes and, since then, reporting has upgraded them to intelligent with any skills previously thought beyond their capabilities. It seems to parallel what I wrote years ago.

I just started reading Flight of the Sorcerress by Barry Wildorf. It's an historical novel about the last librarian at the Library of Alexandria and a woman who is a healer during the fall of Rome. I know he did a LOT of research but he incorporates it so well into the story, it doesn't feel like research.

Overall Feedback: My impulsive first response to this was oh great another vampire novel to through into the pile of other vampire novels. With this in mind I agreed to read and review it thinking I would know the plot and bore myself for a few hours and then post a review about how this goes as other vampire books goes and leave it at that. All due respect to Danielle as she is a friend and fellow member of IWU, that was my first reaction. After reading this book and then rereading this book I would have to say, I WAS WRONG. Danielle carves a story out of a genre that has been beat to death and poked with a stick so many times that most readers are sickened by the idea of reading another one. She takes the reader out of the "Normal" vampire story and throws them into a world where it makes sense. Danielle's vampires are just as we expect from an immortal being with unlimited power, violent, profane and sexual. Well written and I can not wait for the next.

Point of View: Manon (from Forever 27) is your main character and is your conduit into this world.

Voice: Vampires = People

Character Development: The development of the characters is spot on and will command your attention to each and everyone. You shall relate to each one in your own way and Manon will of course cause the most transformation.

Plot: I dare you not to have the plot in mind when you are done or even have to walk away long enough to do other things.

Dialogue: Nothing is held back and the rawness of the dialogue will keep and captivate you.

Pacing: I read it twice in one day. Enough said.

Setting: Do not let the genre fool you into this security of a world you thought you knew and understood. It is more than you knew and everything you want it to be. Finally an adult version of the preteen genre.

Continuity: From start to finish not a hole to be found.

Book Review: Prophecy Moon by Laura Eno

Review

Overall Feedback: Eno draws the reader into the action right off the bat and keeps pounding the action into your reading imagination and still manages to add a bit of romance into the story. Plenty of reviews will state that this is a page turner and that they could not put it down. But I say from the start to the finish it will not be that you can not put it down, it will be that you will not WANT to put it down.

Point of View: Fall in love, seek adventure, go on a quest to deliver something enchanted and live in a fantasy all from the safety of your mind all vicariously through Travis.

Voice: Inner struggle and how it can affect us all while immersing the reader in Fantasy and Romance. Perfection!

Character Development: Because the action starts with a bang it takes a bit to really develop the characters but I believe Eno wanted to catch the reader's attention and allow her characters to grow on and with the reader. Just as characters should develop.

Plot: The action could have caused a mess of the plot but Eno obviously took the time to carefully align the plot and pace.

Dialogue: Seemingly dry at times but for the most part added to the character development.

Pacing: Not to repeat myself, okay to repeat myself. Plenty of reviews will state that this is a page turner and that they could not put it down. But I say from the start to the finish it will not be that you can not put it down, it will be that you will not WANT to put it down.

Setting: Travis's world is magical, fantastical and stimulates the imagination bone.

Continuity: One word. FLAWLESS!

Book Review: You Don't Need a Prince: A Letter to My Daughter by Cheryl Shireman

The daughter loved the email so much that she began forwarding it to her friends. And so the chain began, women reaching out to women.

And now that email has been turned into a book for you to share with the women in your life.

Review

Normally when I review a book on this blog I have several criteria that I run through in order to give an idea to readers on if it will be worth the read. In saying this I had to modify the review template in order to review this one seeing as how this is a short story of about 2500 words. Now on to the review:

Without going into explicit details I can honestly say that this is a book(email) that is going to make it to the shelves of all the women still searching for happiness and love in my life. Shireman's email to her daughter Scarlett is an emotional, touching ride full of undiluted truths. She points out to her daughter (and many other women) what pitfalls they create for themselves and that setting expectations on others that are impossible to accomplish is self destructive to oneself. This heartfelt advise should be preached, painted and told to every girl in every corner of the globe. I also believe that this is a book that boys should read. While boys may find it difficult at first to comprehend or understand how this applies to them maybe they can see the bigger picture. Sometimes in our lives we meet that perfect woman (for me RJ Palmer) and we fail to see that by pushing us away harder and setting higher expectations on us we are only finding ourselves closer to their hearts. If we can recognize this and practice the patience spoken of in this book, along with sharing honesty with them we shall find the path together. If you have yet to read this book (email) take a moment to download and read this one. Once you are done, read it again. Now sit and think of the choices that you have made in your life, the relationships won and lost and I dare you not to see that at one time you were the same. This is not about settling for "Mr. or Ms. Right" it is about knowing that our expectations of them ruins and prevents finding them.

Book Review: Dantalion of the Goetia by Tina M.E.

Review

Overall Feedback: This book weaves a wonderful tale of love, corruption and redemption. Another twist in the romance genre that is worth taking a look at. You will not regret this purchase.

Point of View: From the eyes of a young college girl, you release a demon and your adventure begins.

Voice: I believe the author was trying to show our constant search for something greater.

Character Development: Perfection.

Plot: There are some steps where the plot stumbles but nothing that will cause the reader to lose focus.

Dialogue: The author seemed to struggle a bit here but pulls it off in the end.

Pacing: Had to reread a couple of chapters to figure out where my mind made the wrong turn but nothing to cause alarm. Probably was my attention that caused the issue as romance is not my genre of choice.

Setting: Evil lurks everywhere.

Continuity: Other than the couple of things listed above nothing to cause me to not recommend this as a good read.

I was a possessed lunatic when I wrote Night Undone. I've never written like that before - 10 or more hours straight at a time, and when I wasn't at the computer typing it, the wheels in my head were turning over it. I was literally consumed. At one point, there was a word I wanted and couldn't think of - for nearly two weeks. That whole time I kept on writing, figuring eventually the word would come to me. One morning, I woke up at 5 a.m., sat up straight in bed and yelled "Solidarity!" That was the word!

Funny how researching can either reinforce or completely debunk my theories. Going back to Vancouver to get my questions answered was thrilling yet annoying at the same time. While I received an amazing amount of cooperation from people all the way up to the Minister's office, I hit roadblocks in other areas. Our hotel was nice BUT it had been closed up and had a nasty musty smell to it. I was getting frustrated and annoyed. Then it clicked. I was being ridiculously idealistic with my story. The truth of it was - real life wouldn't make things easy for my characters - so why should I?

K.S. Brooks has been writing for over thirty years. She penned her first book, a swashbuckling action-adventure based in 17th century France, when she was fifteen years old. Since then, despite working for a living in the electronics industry, Ms. Brooks continued to write. Warren Murphy. I'm always amazed when someone doesn't know who he is. He's written over 200 books, some of which were made into movies and TV Series. He's a great person, and a fantastic writer. Whenever someone asks me how to write mystery or suspense, I tell them to get Murphy's "Pigs Get Fat" and study it. There's not enough room here to say all the good things I could say about Warren.

Book Review: The Scarab by Scott Rhine

When he invented a device that made him rich over night, he and ex-girlfriend, Mary Ann, were able to enter SimCon, the simulated European road race.

When Ground Effect Vehicles became common, prototypes were too dangerous and expensive to build outright. Instead, each year, major designers competed in the Super Bowl of virtual races – SimCon. The vehicles needed speed, skill, and weapons to get ahead. The winners in each class got millions in production contracts and advertizing.

Ethan made a lot of enemies in his first professional race, including a cyber-criminal named Kali. The challenges of a week-long trek across Europe are nothing compared to the dirty tricks, murder, and kidnapping that took place off the track. Being a severe hemophiliac meant Ethan had to keep his temper under control, and think. When someone kidnapped Mary Ann, it was up to the Scarab to save her.

Overall Feedback: A fast passed, adrenaline pumping read from cover to cover. The author draws us in and holds us hostage in this Virtual Racing World that he has created. Unbelievable action and suspense all wrapped in a tightly woven story. This is a "Do Not Miss" read for the year.

Point of View: You follow Ethan on his trek to overcome his obstacles and save the race.

Voice: A plus to drawing in anyone into the gaming world. A bit of the jargon may catch you off guard but the author does well to explain.

Character Development: Finely tuned just like the Virtual Racers.

Plot: The next step in gaming evolution.

Dialogue: Due to the jargon you may get lost but stay steady and the end will be there.

Pacing: Races through your imagination and fuels your brain with high voltage dreams.

Setting: Virtual Reality is here.

Continuity: Not a loose spot in the story.

Overall Feedback: This book took everything I had to read. The author obviously does not speak English nor does he write in any fashion near English. Although the storyline would/should be interesting I could not get into the story as the book itself was a barrage of broken English. Many of the sentences and phrases mad absolutely no sense and I believe much was lost in translation.

Point of View: The point of view suffers from the poor grasp of the English language and therefor hops about from person to person.

Voice: The author spends too much time trying to make me believe it is a path rather than show me it is a path.

Character Development: Again because of the lack of good translation the characters are one dimensional.

Plot: Language Language Language

Dialogue: Stilted and one dimensional.

Pacing: Suffers from the lack of a grasp on the English language.

Setting: Please see voice.

Continuity: Horrible. Only thing I can say.

Overall Feedback: A brilliantly written YA fantasy. This will whisk it's reader away to a land of humans and Dwarves. Young readers will love this story form the first page to the last.

Point of View: You follow Davi around throughout the story.

Voice: The biggest thing I got from the story was a theme of racial tolerance.

Character Development: The author was superb in their character development. You get a real sense of being there with Davi.

Plot: Although we have heard of humans and dwarves in the same realm in many stories, I believe this author adds to it and comes up with a side we have never seen before,

Dialogue: East to understand and fits the story well.

Pacing: Seeing that it is only 70 pages there was not even the slightest issue.

Setting: Details cause the setting to come alive and will take you to this dream of the writer's.

Continuity: Not an issue in any of the 70 pages.

When I wrote this series I learned a lot about knights. They're just not noble, brave, courageous, but also they're a bit like you and I. Sometimes they're forced to do things they don't want to do. Some knights never wanted to be knights but were forced by their parents to keep the family tradition. Also, some parents wanted to protect their children from becoming knights knowing they might not come home the same.

The life of a knight can be real cool but also real frightening.

The War is Language: 101 Short Works is a compilation in three sections and culminates with absurdest letters to a fake advice columnist. These ultra short pieces exist at story's amorphous limit of spoken word and deconstruction.

As a whole, this high-impact triptych of prose poetry and flash fiction probes identity in experience. The first and second sections of the book explore memory and dichotomy respectively by focusing on the impressions of a woman and a soldier as 21st-century Americans. The book’s third section, letters to a fake advice columnist, is a sarcastic interaction with an absurd existential authority figure. The book calls into question our post-post-modern establishment of anti-authority conformists.

The War is Language: 101 Short Works is the first in an e-book series, On Impulse, which explores the spectrum of narrative.

Review

Overall Feedback: I found this to be more of an opinion piece than short stories. The author has obvious talent and does well to show it in this work and I would recommend reading more of her work but this one would be for those that like to hear arguments about one's opinion. Although this was presented in fictional form I still had the feeling of a non-fiction.

Point of View: I felt the stories were more like a personal blog, so it felt 1st person.

Voice: Although the author does well to voice their opinions I felt it was more or less propaganda.

Plot: Although there are pieces that a tied together in commonality, most of the work is presented in what feels to be blog posts.

Pacing: The pacing is hurt by the feeling of stories not quite fitting in, therefore causing some re-reading of parts.

Continuity: Again because of some of the disjointedness of the stories you may find your mind wandering but overall a good outing by an obviously talented author.

Overall Feedback: Sit back and let the bodies fall in the Atlantic. From the very beginning this one has you on the edge of your seat and wondering WTF. We find ourselves twisted in plots that are twisted into others and the only way out is no mercy. Our main character must do what she must do to survive, protect and unravel the mystery.

Point of View: Told from Hazel Moran's pov. You follow her and her decisions and actions that must be made or taken to find out what is happening and why. The author does well to make her a very strong female lead.

Voice: What would you do if faced with kill or be killed?

Character Development: Very deep with the main character and perfectly shallow with the supporting characters. This author obviously knows how to develop characters correctly.

Plot: Filled to the brim with mystery, suspense and intrigue. This book takes your imagination on a joy ride but never loses sight of the end.

Dialogue: Natural and flowing.

Pacing: The end comes faster than ever in this book.

Setting: Maybe this has or is happening maybe it isn't but I can tell you one thing. We will never look at women on the East Coast the same way.

Continuity: Not a hole in the whole book. Very tightly written and expertly crafted.

This is a book I was given for free by the author for review. I did not know a lot about it when I picked it up, but I decided to give it a chance. This is the kind of book you really have to begin without knowing too much about it. Half the fun of it was trying to figure out what was going on as I read.
Synopsis: (in my words)
Raine Donnelly, a bachelor, is at his home in Colorado when some pretty strange things start happening…The knob on his radio turns seemingly of it’s own volition, turning the volume up to uncomfortable levels…He’s in the shower when the contents of his medicine cabinet begin floating about the room in a mini cyclone, flinging themselves against the door with enough strength to dent it…Is he being haunted? Is he crazy? is someone playing some kind of elaborate joke on him? Raine goes in to get scanned for brain tumors because obviously he is having some wicked hallucinations…

Somewhere far away a widow and her two daughters live their lives without their beloved Raine, who died in a car accident that plunged their beloved into the depths of a river…

Something I asked myself a lot while reading this book: “What the heck is going on?”

Review:
From the moment I began reading this book I was hooked. The writer was extremely skilled at giving just enough away while still keeping you in the dark and wishing you could figure it out. It was exciting, suspenseful, and generally great.

Then we get to the bad part……

The ending. Oh! the ending! AHHHhhh! Seriously, if you had asked me what my review would be when I was like 90% done with the book, I would have told you that I was going to give it an EXTREMELY positive review. Really, I liked it that much. But then I got to the ending…. It was one of those moments where I just sat there, staring at the page thinking, “Seriously? That’s the ending?!?!?” :::sigh::: It left me with SO many questions. (SPOILERS AHEAD): Basically, it wrapped up some stuff, like Raine coming to grips with his past and taking revenge on the people that had terrorized him. Ok, fine, good. But then it basically just ends there. We don’t know what happened to Raine after that, we don’t know what happened to his wife and kids after that. We don’t know whether his children have the same abilities as he does, or if they are just psychic, or what on earth they are… We don’t know how the government is going to react to someone with Raine’s abilities or what Raine is going to do about that to protect himself and his family. We don’t know what happens to Dr. Calloway (the lady that was studying Raine): Did she figure it out? What would she do with such information? What about the witnesses to him doing all sorts of crazy stuff? There should be repercussions that Raine still needs to deal with!

Ok, so by typing out the above rant I have been led to the conclusion that if the writer does a sequel that explains all these things, then this first book can be considered awesome! But if not, then reading it will only lead to disappointment. I really hope he does write a sequel, if so I will buy it. If he doesn’t, I will eventually put this book in The Dustbin. For now, it stays on the Bookshelf.

ALERT: Political Opinion Piece

I generally try not to post political opinions as I respect that others may not think as I do and may not agree. I also understand that politics can usually bring out the bad in folks and discussions involving politics usually quickly unravel into heated arguments but here I am anyway. While reading this understand that I do not expect you to agree and hope that you comment on this post with your differing opinion but I also ask those that do agree to do the same. So here we go.

We sit here at the closing of 2011 and we watch the pomp and circumstance for the next bid for President of the Country. We watch as a line of folks parade about on TV and tell us what we want to hear or what they think we want to hear or worse what they tell us to want to hear. We are a very unhappy people and we wish for things to return to the way they were, but we forget that we were broken long before the break happened. A great and successful country does not crash and burn overnight, it dies slowly and quietly at first and then it fragments into the pieces we see. My word of warning to those that are close to me a few years ago was that Rome is burning and nobody cares, well Rome has burned down and now everybody wants to point out the fire starter. I have issues with each of these groups and will try my best to convey my feelings of each without dumping all responsibility on any one group.

Democrats

This group has always and will always point the finger at the Republicans because that is how they started and that is how they will finish. This group tried to restructure itself into a better party but they pushed forward a leader that did not fully understand the game of politics. We were given promises that were fully intended to be fulfilled by someone who did not know that you can not get without giving. Barack Obama has done nothing (albeit a few promises were kept) towards meeting the goals that he had set in the beginning of his bid for president. He instead has kept stating that he inherited a country in turmoil. During this time he was unable to fulfill his promises because why should congress stand behind a man that does not want accountability. If he were to be re-elected I would like to see less of look what I came into and more of this is a way out. Personally, I think he was given his shot and now it is someone else's turn. We need a leader not a follower and Democrats we need a party that can work together to meet the same end. How can we expect Republicans to play fair when we chose to divide ourselves. Time to grow up and move our nation forward.

Republicans

Republicans just as Democrats are so happy to forget their parties transgressions in order to make their party look better. While Bush was in office he played up a war that was costing us LIVES and ECONOMY. We were paying for Bush and his administration to play war. We were just as deceived by the Bush administration as were are being deceived by the Obama administration. Republicans just chose to look ignorant. With that said I see hope for the Republican party as they seem to be restructuring too. I see three candidates (Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich) that seem to genuinely want to better the country. If we allow for political ads to be what they are (men putting there foots in their mouth), then we can try and find one of these men to follow. Personally, I see Rick Perry as the best candidate as of yet but I feel that Newt will gain the support. Although Newt has the advantage of experience on the Hill, we need a fresh face. Maybe Perry and Gingrich can be running mates. Experience meets youthfullness and determination. I think Biden was supposed to do that for Barack but they missed the point. I would like to see Republicans just own that everyone has deceived everyone and just get on with what needs to be done to fix what has been breaking for years.

Occupy

Up until now I have only sat in the back and grumbled to myself about this group. I have kept my opinion of Occupy because they seem to sink in their own holes and I figured they were not worth the time but if I am going to address finger pointing then I have to include them. Occupy wants to point at corporations and say that our current state of affairs is all their fault. What they fail to realize is that corporations still count on us "little" guys to by the goods that make them wealthy. I say if a company is not satisfying your expectations then don't shop there. I do not like the way Apple treats it's customers and users so I do not buy Apple products. Easy right, but wait there is more. Going to the Occupy Wall Street website you are met with calls for Civil Disobedience and nothing more. It seems to me that a call for no leaders and an organization that shows no direct leadership then you can only come to the conclusion that they promote Anarchy. Now anarchy was a great idea when we all were teenagers but as adults we know that if no one is in charge then no one is held accountable for their actions. So I can only infer that this group wants no one held accountable unless it suits them. This is why I pay no attention to this group. They only argue for equality for everything except accountability.

Tea Party

How can anyone get behind a party that actively promotes hate. I can not take the time to learn the deeper meaning of their message because they allow the hate mongers to outshine any message they may have. Thus they lose me before they could start on me.

In Conclusion

I think I have touched a little on each currently loud group and I am equally sure I have missed some. What is it that I hope this post does? Why should you care? Who's fault is it? Who can we blame? Why us? Why me?

I can try and answer these questions but mostly you will have to answer some for yourself.

I hope that this post at least wakes up a few people to realize we need a leader not someone that bows to our wants. We need someone to come into office and move us away from a country of want to a country of need. We need a true leader that sacrifices numbers for the good of the whole. I would like to see us come back to the notion that we can reap what we sow, regardless of whether or not it is good or bad.

I would hope that everyone cares what our children are learning. As the saying goes "Monkey see monkey do."

Why do we have to have someone to blame? As my wife says "When you point the finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you."

Until we come together as a nation at fully realize and understand that blaming gets us nowhere we shall continue to fail. As I told my sons, "Stop asking why do I get into trouble and ask the easier question, what can I do to get what I need and want without getting into trouble."

Book Review: Game Thief by Carlos Warner

Review

Overall Feedback: Took a bit for me to really get into this one but once I was able to get along with the story, I found that I liked it. I do however think there were some areas that moved away from the plot but overall I think the author has done well for a first outing.

Point of View; Seemed a bit confused at first but the author pulls it together and delivers a concise POV.

Voice: Does well to describe the intricacies of a relationship and how to deal with those in both detrimental and realistic ways.

Character Development: Some shortcomings but the author does not leave us to care not for the characters. You will relate in a few ways and in a few you may be turned away.

Plot: Simple and fresh.

Dialogue: Somewhat confused but overall pulls together to help bring the character home.

Pacing: This is where the book excels.

Setting: We can all relate to the setting as we have all been there or know someone who has.

Continuity: Minor cuts but if you can handle a few mental bruises you will enjoy this read.

Overall Feedback: Before I go all out into this review let me first state the obvious. Yes his last name really is Cosby and yes he is related to the great and legendary Bill Cosby. So instead of using his uncles fame and legendary status he decided to cut his own path and I say good for him. Now for the review. Cosby has written a Science Fiction Epic that seems to play very well for YA and maybe even a bit more for YA Females but I do believe that males will enjoy the story too. You can tell this is his first foray into the wilderness of Science Fiction writing but he does well enough to draw you in and make you eager for more in what could make a great series. I found myself enveloped in a great story albeit a story a bit below my age group. If you are a Science Fiction nut and want to raise Science Fiction nuts, here is a good start for them and an easy way for you to relate.

Point of View: The point of view goes between some of the characters but is needed for the storyline. It only adds and never detracts.

Voice: You will recognize the voice from a new face.

Character Development: Spot on and you will come to care for his modern Romeo and Juliet just as much as you have in any previous "like" story.

Plot: Although we have an overall plot that has been beat more than any dead horse can we find ourselves taking a journey through a great story that has never been told.

Dialogue: If I were to be a Star Child or an Alien Prince, I could imagine that this is how I would hold conversation.

Pacing: For a Space Romance this book introduces more than it's fair share of twists and turn especially at the end.

Setting: Feels so real you can see, feel and hear it.

Continuity: Braxton is flawless in his prose.

Book Review: Formed of Clay (a novella of betrayal in ancient Egypt) by Thea Atkinson

Overall Feedback: A mesmerizing tour through the mind of an exceptionally talented author. Thea transpots her readers to the exact time, place and mood of the story she has created in front of them and refuses to give an inch. This book will have you upon the first page. Let your imagination fly and enjoy the trip.

Point of View: As most stories go you live the book through the main character, and what a character Sentu is.

Voice: Startling from the first chapter.

Character Development: Not a pinch of problems within any of the pages.

Plot: Egypt was more complicated than we could every really know. This author gives us a possible look into one small time in the lives of the Egyptians.

Dialogue: I have never met an Egyptian but I imagine this is how they would be and talk.

Pacing: I found some spots that seemed to drag but was rewarded for sticking it through. I should note that there was nothing that would cause a reader to lose site of the story.

Setting: Egypt was known for this type of intrigue.

Continuity: Not a spot out of place.

Review

Overall Feedback: This is one mystery you do not want to miss. The author does a superb job with bringing together faith, intrigue, suspense and mystery. I was drawn in from the very first page and did not put it down until the last thrill was had.

Point of View: Rico tells it like it is.

Voice: The message is somewhat hidden but once you find it the meaning flashes through your mind like a bolt of lightening.

Character Development: Although there are several characters in this one the author does well to keep them orderly.

Plot: A thrill ride from beginning to end.

Dialogue: I saw no issues with the dialogue. Seemed natural and non forced.

Pacing: In a few spots the story seemed to slow down but the author was quick on the rebound.

Setting: We all know/suspect this is happening all the time.

Continuity: Just enough left out to make you salivate for the next one in the series (if the author so chooses).

Without A Trace is an eBook and a fictional historical-thriller. It is based on the story of Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel Murders of 1888.
It follows the story of some of the real people who were closely linked to the case around the time of the killings and it is as historically accurate as I could make it.

I already knew a fair amount about the Whitechapel Murders but researching tought me a lot more, yes. It amazed me especially to find out how easy the Metropolitan Police Force made it for the Ripper to evade capture. If he'd been around a century later, he would instantly have been caught.

I was very proud of releasing Without A Trace on the Amazon Kindle. I thought that was a big accomplishment for a 19-year old.

I think a very talented American author called Jeff Bennington deserves it. I read the first few pages of his recent novel, Reunion and I was completely blown away.
The way he puts across what the characters are feeling...I can't even begin to describe the effect it had on me. The great thing is that all of Jeff's work is the same. That is why his books are worth picking up.

Well, most people find it hard to believe that I actually hate zombies!

Last summer an author friend, Lori Titus, challenged me to take part in a zombie love flash fiction contest. Since I hated zombies, I decided to challenge myself to take part. As soon as I started writing I realised there was a lot of potential in the subject, and more and more story ideas kept appearing out of nowhere. Somewhere into my third story, I decided I'd make a collection. So it's been a pretty unexpected experience!

Title of your book?

My first book in the Guardians of the Word series is called Chosen. The second book is Myth.

Series Description:
The Guardians of the Word is an epic fantasy, science fiction amalgam that tells the story of Dynan Telaerin and his ancestor's long struggle to rid the world of evil. Beyond the barrier lies the heart of deception, trapping the world in a repeating cycle of devastation, rebirth and then destruction once again, every thousand years. For countless cycles knowledge is destroyed, the words of truth lost to future generations until one young man, the First King of Cobalt sacrifices his eternal soul to remain. He brings previously lost knowledge forward in time to his ancestors, Dynan and Dain, who like him are telepathic twin brothers. It is their destiny to finally break the cycle, or die in the attempt, damning the world to the final darkness, for in their time, the Gods are weakened, evil prevails and unless it is defeated once and for all, will remain to rule in domination and terror.

some extent about playing with what might be expected, and bringing some
humor, mystery, and a bit of flirty banter to what can easily turn only
too grim, when the stakes are so "fantastically" high. It isn't "Dark"
fantasy, but nor is it slapstick. It's basically a character piece
about Tilda Lanai, trying to hold down a job, help out her friends, and

I can pretty much guarantee that they haven't read any other books with headless protagonists - so that keeps things pretty unpredictable. Also, this is satire with real bite that I don't think we get enough of these days.

CLUMP is targeted to people who enjoy Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, Joseph Heller and similar satirists...as well as to readers who like "extreme" literature like Katherine Dunn's "Geek Love."

Have you acquired any good anecdotes surrounding this book? If so, could you share one?

It's safe to say that agents and publishers (many of whom gave me very glowing feedback) simply can't wrap their heads around the idea of a headless protagonist. I got countless questions along the lines of "how does he see? What does he want? What are his goals? How does he change?" and when I would say "Clump doesn't do any of those things - he has no head," I would always get dead silence in reply. Followed eventually by "then how can there be a story...?"

And the answer is that the novel isn't the story of Clump the man, it's the story of Clump the media event. In much the same way that James Cameron's film "Titanic" was centered on the ship and the events surrounding the ship, but told the story through the people whose lives intersected with the event. And so it is with Clump. Only with more politically incorrect humor, sex and violence.

It got me to think more about the way our lives are shaped - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly - by events we have very little control over. And about how all actions have consequences. Sometimes very dire consequences.

Why do you write?

I think any real writer would have to answer "because I have no other choice." I MUST write and create at all times. In part because I have ideas that I want to express, but also because there's no feeling which quite compares to the moment that your characters take life on the page and start telling their own stories - sometimes hijacking the way the author thought the story was meant to go. It's magical. And addictive.

Humor would certainly have to top the list. But I'd also have to say my sense of story and pacing. My works tend to be very cinematic, like scenes playing out in a movie (unsurprising since scriptwriting is the day job that puts food on my table).

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life?

On a personal level, I'm most proud of building a loving family with my wonderful wife and daughter. There can't be anything more important than that.

On a professional level, I'd have to say I'm proud to have heard about many, many children who have been helped by things I've written in my children's works. I've been told about lives that were saved, and the comfort and relief that children have felt even as their lives were running out. That's extremely humbling.

Is there any new or established author whom you feel deserves more attention, and what is it that strikes you about his or her work?

I doubt that Kurt Vonnegut needs me to polish his star (and I'm sure it's up there in the firmament even now), but his works are always timely and meaningful. Painfully funny, sad, and true at the same time.

That's the goal I'm shooting for with CLUMP. Though Vonnegut's dirtiest trick is that his writing is so simple and eloquent that he creates the illusion that writing is easy. It never is...but it's worth the effort.

Overall Feedback: So here I am again looking at a romance novel. I can not believe that I have started to actually like this genre and do not mind reviewing it. Sure I still think of most books in this genre as recycled but I have been steadily coming across books in this genre that have completely taken my breath away and made me re-evaluate my opinion of this seemingly complicated genre called romance. This story is one of those books that slams it's being into my stereotyped belief in a wafer thin genre and makes me wonder about my predetermined views. I met Cheryl through the Facebook Group called Indie Writers Unite. She reluctantly asked me to review her book as she does not like to seem like she is begging for reviews (at least in my opinion). So here I am after reading her book and let me tell you, speechless, breathless and most important entertained. Cheryl has taken the romance genre and spiced it with a murder mystery. Some will say, but this is not a romance, it is a murder mystery suspense. I say this because this book carries true to both genres and really is kind of carving its own. Maybe most of the persons reviewing in the beginning of this book's history should have approached it in this way. I saw a book that weaved a wonderful tale of intrigue but was written to speak to women. Most if not all women will relate closely with the main character (Grace)and will experience every emotion that Cheryl is trying to have her characters convey. In short do not pass on this one, it will bend your ideas of two major genres and entertain you all the while.

Point of View: This story is told through first person so that you may experience the characters world as they see it. Wonderful living vicariously through the creations of another.

Voice: In my opinion I get the feeling the author was trying to convey that we all have trials to go through to find the person we should be and the person we want to be. Once we discover those we have to try and find a way to mesh the two together in a way that works.

Character Development: I feel that character development was amazing in most areas and lacking in others. Although Cheryl has obvious talent at writing you can see she struggles with character development. There is not anything in here that will cause the reader to slam the book down and walk away but just a few things that cause the reader to question why that tidbit was needed and this one was not.

Plot: Although we find ourselves in a story that has been told and we can try to guess what is coming next, Cheryl was able to keep us guessing wrong thus carrying our intrigue and desire in the plot further. This is how an author gets a reader to tell their friends and tell I shall.

Dialogue: Natural and flowing.

Pacing: Cheryl has some trouble finding her story's heartbeat in the beginning but soon overcomes and causes the reader to lose track of their heartbeat.

Setting: You can see this place even now and probably have visited a place just like it.

Continuity: If you have any doubts on my opinion on the story then look no further than here. When I judge a book I take a look at this point and wonder to myself. "How long did it take me to get into this book and how long did it take me to read it?" If I had to pick it up and put it down and repeat this process countless times until I finished, then chances are it suffers a lack of continuity. If I can put the book down and not come back to it in days it suffers the same fate. However, if I can latch onto a book a read through it in a day or less, then my fellow readers we have a winner. Well here is the winner this time. I read this in two hours and still taste the deliciousness of the read.
